As the regatta dates draw near, organizers are actively re-confirming sponsors for the 2016 event. Sunsail, which has been an avid supporter of the regatta for many years, has once again established their partnership for the 36th St. Maarten Heineken Regatta. The regatta, which takes place March 3-6, 2016, has the largest bareboat fleet in the Caribbean and offers competitive racing in a superb sailing environment.

This relationship has been one that has been cultivated over many years, and although they have been official contracted sponsors for several years now, Sunsail has supported the event one way or another for much longer. The regatta has such a large charter boat fleet therefore this partnership allows the event to have a clear line of communication with one of the largest charter boat companies to enter the race.

By providing committee boats for the event, Sunsail ensures that the race committee can focus on other aspects of the regatta. The catamarans they supply are perfect for use as start boats, and because they come fully equipped they are extremely comfortable for the volunteers to be on all day. Sunsail is a natural fit for the event. During the 2015 regatta there were 30 entries in the bareboat fleet from Sunsail alone.

Marketing manager of Sunsail North & South America, Brittany Weatherby Riley, mentioned, “For Sunsail, participation in the St. Maarten Heineken Regatta is a perfect fit. We have a full fleet of boats every year which is always one of the most competitive we have in our regatta calendar. The number of crews who return annually from all over the world to sail in the bareboat class is impressive and speaks measures to the quality of the regatta. We wouldn’t want to miss this. It has been increasingly impressive to see how the regatta grows each year and evolves with both the needs of their growing fleets and their sustainable and social responsibility on the island which is very important to us as a brand.”

Entries have been steadily rising, and many of the bareboats have already been chartered. For those interested in racing in this fun class, it is important to book early as the boats rent quickly. For more information visit the regatta website www.heinekenregatta.com or go to www.sunsail.com.
