FOCUS ON RAN V

RanVRan, which means “god of the seas” in Viking mythology, is a much-anticipated contender in the 6th edition of Les Voiles de St Barth. This Maxi 72, which belongs to Niklas Zennström, one of the original founders of Skype, was launched last April and has quickly become one of the leaders in its class.

Designed by Judel-Vrolijk—as was Bella Mente—Ran V already made its mark at the Gaastra PalmaVela in Majorca, by winning almost every race.

The crew comprises top sailing professionals, such as skipper Tim Powell and Steven Hayles, champions of the Volvo Ocean Race, as well as Olympic champion Adrian Stead as tactician.

Light yet powerful, Ran V was designed to be as efficient as possible on the waves. The crew is at the strict minimum when racing in order to maintain the ideal weight. This beauty will be a serious adversary for Bella Mente and other Mini-Maxis in competition.

BROCHURE 2015

The RM 60-01 Regatta Flyback Chronograph, the prestigious new prize for the Maxi class.

montreThe winner of the Maxi Yacht class will take home the RM 60-01 Regatta Chronograph Flyback watch, a gift from Les Voiles’ principal sponsor, Richard Mille. The is the first model in a new collection of Richard Mille watches launched in 2014 and dedicated to navigation on the high seas.

At the core of this watch is the Caliber RMAC2 in grade 5 titanium: a self-winding flyback chronograph movement with a 50-hour power reserve, customized inertia rotors, all of the functions of a flyback chronograph, and annual calendar. A UTC hand is one of the nautical features of the RM 60-01, which facilitates navigation thanks to its rotating bezel, with the four cardinal points in red, and a graduated 360-degree scale in yellow. Different from other watches, this one can just as easily calculate for the southern hemisphere as well as the northern, with the bezel acting as a compass.
