Each year at this time there is a great feeling in the Caribbean when we know that numerous cross Atlantic rallies and races are making their way or about to, to their chosen Caribbean Island for the season. Right now at our last count there will be a as their stepping stone to spending their winter season cruising the islands or racing at some of our excellent event. Keep a track of them here.
Salty Dawg (Fall Rally):
The Salty Dawg ( Fall Rally) is already on its way! A fleet of 68 boats started on November 2nd, 2017 from Hampton, Virginia near the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay and arrive at Falmouth Harbour in Antigua within 10 days although some will be stopping off in the Bahamas and the BVI. ARC Caribbean 1500:
The ARC Caribbean 1500 began on November 5th from Portsmouth, VA at the mouth of Chesapeake Bay with 18 boats sailing to Nanny Cay in Tortola, British Virgin Island. Follow along at https://www.worldcruising.com/Carib1500/eventfleetviewer.aspx
Las Palmas to Le Marin in Martinique (Leg 2 of the Mini Transat)
The Mini Transat started out approximately 4o years ago, where 24 small boats decided that they were doing a Transatlantic race starting from England solo handed destined to Antigua. Transat Jacques Vabre.
The Transat Jacques Vabre has been in existence for 24 years and is the longest-running two-handed transat. The source of this race is a historical route: The coffee route. It is an event with an expert mix of tastes, vintages, aromas, and characters. The ARC
The Arc + Cape Verdes left Gran Canaria on the 5th November and the ARC direct to St. Lucia leaves Las Palmas on the 19th November. In all nearly 200 boats will join he fleet. https://www.worldcruising.com/arc/arcitinerary.aspx
The RORC Transatlantic Race 2017:
The fourth edition of the RORC Transatlantic Race starts at the Marina Lanzarote, Canary Island, on 25 November and is heading to Camper & Nicholson’s Port Louis Marina, Grenada.
