Our Story

United across the Caribbean

Created for the sole purpose of enabling fair racing across the classes, our rating rule is designed specifically for the conditions found uniquely and consistently in the Caribbean.

Our reach extends from the warm Caribbean seas in the south from Belize, Panama, Barbados & Trinidad & Tobago to the not quite Caribbean island of Bermuda in the North and all the Caribbean countries and islands in between.

And with that unity comes the community of people with a passion for sailing, developing the sport, the industry, our nations and the pure indulgent fun of being on the water.

OUR MISSION

The mission of the Caribbean Sailing Association is to promote sailing within the region, and Caribbean sailing to the world. The CSA also administers Rating Rules to provide a simple and fair handicap system for racing. Additionally, the CSA serves as a forum for yacht clubs, regattas, sailing organizations and sailors throughout the Caribbean to coordinate interests and events, exchange ideas and best practices, and combine voices to achieve broader exposure to the international community.

OUR LEGAL FRAMEWORK

The CSA is registered as the Caribbean Association of Sailing, Inc in Antigua and Barbuda and is a non-profit organisation.
The objectives of the Caribbean Sailing Association are:

  • To govern, promote and encourage interest and participation in the sport of sailing in the Caribbean.
  • To facilitate the Members to compete in local and overseas sailing events and to provide them with the framework and logistical support to succeed at the International and Olympic level.
  • To administer rating rules for sailboats of various sizes and types.
  • To promote educational programs and the training of sailors, measurers, race officials and race management personnel for participation in regional, national, and international competitions.
  • To sanction sailing events in the Caribbean and be the governing body to orchestrate the official CSA race calendar.
