Catfish are 14 foot dinghies built in Gouyave, Grenada, and sailed within the region. Catfish attributes include sturdy design, self-bailing and retractable rudder. Gouyave sailing club organizer Terry Neilson says, “We wanted to see Grenada youth out sailing and we needed an affordable boat built locally in the Caribbean. The Catfish 14  accommodate  three or four  children in learn to sail programs and two adults for racing. They are stronger, less expensive and well-suited to the beach landings and robust winds of the Eastern Caribbean than other mass produced boats from North America. They are simple little boats that are designed to be easy to sail and for low maintenance.”
