Commodore’s Night of Notes: An Enchanting Evening of Music With Pianocean

Sint Maarten Yacht Club (SMYC) — At the invitation of Sint Maarten Yacht Club Commodore, Frits Bus, club members and the island community came together on Saturday, March 21, for a unique concert by Pianocean hosted at the club’s docks.

Titled ‘Commodore’s Night of Notes’, the over 60 guests in attendance were captivated as melodies from Pianocean drifted across the water, and stunning aerial shots captured the magic.

Pianocean is an artistic and maritime project led by the piano and voice of Marieke Huysmans-Berthou. A sailor, piano player, and songwriter, she sails from port to port giving concerts, and the event at SMYC was her final stop in the Caribbean before sailing north to the Canadian Maritimes.

Doors opened at 7:00 p.m. for the concert and Pianocean’s double-masted sailboat was moored between the SMYC docks to provide an intimate and unforgettable event. When each concert takes place, the piano is lifted from the boat’s aft cabin by a customized system that transforms the deck into a stage, creating a perfect listening environment for those in attendance. Indeed, everyone who came was treated to a captivating performance.

Each port of call is an inspiration for Marieke, and for those in attendance it truly was a night to remember.
