Panacea X and Apollo win 2026 CSA Traveller’s Trophies

The Caribbean Sailing Association (CSA) Traveller’s Trophy was created to award excellence in performance in Caribbean regattas along with rewarding number of events participated in. Running for more than 20 years, many infamous Caribbean sailors have successfully campaigned and won including Jamie Dobbs (who won the first three years), John Foster, Hugh Bailey, Bernie Evan-Wong, Dougie Myers, Tom Hill, Scott Ledbetter, Andrew Birk, Jaime Torres and of course Sandy Mair who created the Trophy concept.

In the last two years charter boats were included and so for 2026 the CSA made the decision to create two categories: Private boat & Charter boats.

For the second year running, Katy Campbell’s Panacea X was victorious in the charter category having collected 69 points across the region. Runners up were Richard Dilley’s Belladonna with 42 points and 4 regattas and Ray Rhindelander’s Bella J with 37 points and 4 regattas. Katy had already left Antigua for the sail down to Trinidad for the end of the season and requested young Youth 2 Keel sailor and 3 times crew member on board Panacea X, from Antigua, Belinda Gilbert to receive the prize on her behalf.

In the private boat category Donald Nicholson’s Apollo won with 26 points in 4 regattas. Runners up was Peter Lewis’s Whistler with 20 points across 5 regattas and in third place Sanne Bast’s Illios with 15 points across 3 regattas.

Chief Measurer of the CSA David Walworth says of the trophy, ‘Its great to see the amount of boats who participated across mulitiple events throughout this season. We look forward to more boats participating in the 2027 season.
