The line-up for the 2018 St. Maarten Heineken Regatta is steadily being filled with top musical acts. Saturday, March 3rd, will feature Trinidad Carnival Legend Destra Garcia and the super exciting Antiguan Band 3 Cylinder. Both acts are well known to the island of St. Maarten and will show their support to the island by putting on a high energy show at Port de Plaisance.

Destra Garcia, born in Trinidad, remains the number one leading female Soca artist in the Caribbean and is the most requested Soca artist internationally because of her signature high energy performances. Destra made her debut as a Soca entertainer in 1999 and is showing no signs of slowing down, challenging herself every year, taking her music and her fans along for the exciting journey.

Destra has fans all over the world and is determined to achieve her dream of taking Soca music to International markets. “Everybody is experimenting to see if we could all take Soca to another level. I think Soca is already good, I’ve decided to see if I can make it more marketable. I’m all for experimenting but I want to keep most of the elements that already exist.” Explains Garcia.

John Leone of International Liquor and Tobacco Trading Ltd. adds: “Destra is one of the most dynamic Caribbean artists, and her high energy music and positive lyrics are perfect for our event. To have her performing together with 3 Cylinder at the Saturday night Concert will definitely add an extra element to this special edition of the St. Maarten Heineken Regatta. Both acts are repeat performers of the St. Maarten Heineken Regatta and both have substantially reduced their performance fee to contribute to fundraising efforts for hurricane relief. This will be a very special show, deeply meaningful and super positive!”

Destra is joined by Antiguan Band 3 Cylinder. 3 Cylinder was formed over 20 years ago and features the brothers David “Krokus” Edwards and Toriano “Onyan” Edwards from the Caribbean famous Soca band, Burning Flames. 3 Cylinder is considered a small version of Burning Flames, and just as exciting. Their music is influenced by calypso, reggae, funk, zouk and just about every other music genre.

Tickets to the Saturday night event at Port de Plaisance will be $ 15, with at least $ 5 of each ticket going towards the K1 Britannia Foundation, the Nature Foundation, the St. Maarten Sea Rescue Foundation and the St. Maarten Yacht Club Regatta Foundation.

The Thursday and Friday evening Concerts will remain free to the public and will all take place at Port de Plaisance where a special world class Regatta Village is setup for the entire Regatta Week. The venues will be open to the sailors and the general public.
