Great sailing conditions on the second and final day of the January Keelboat Series, sailed on January 30th.
Thirteen boats were out for the final day of the January series on Sunday 30th of January.
The wind forecast had been lighter (9 knot) than the actual wind, which was just a little stronger providing ultimate conditions for racing. All classes except CSA 2, did two races that went from Simpson Bay to Great Bay and back. The race officer, Steve Burzon showed some on point race management, together with a strong group of volunteers.
It was the first official race for the new Diam Trimarans, who are preparing for next weeks Caribbean Multihull Challenge. Both races in this class were won by Cry Baby helmed by Pierre Alte who is also the main organizer of this very exciting new class on the island. Second was Sylvain Corroy on Air Nest and third was Alexis de Boucau on Merlin.
Eight monohulls sailed in CSA 1 and the big winners were all boats that had not sailed the first day of the series. Both races were won by Kick em Jenny 2, the Melges 32 that had comfortable wins. They have to be on top of their game for the 2022 Heineken Regatta as they will be confronting at least two top Puerto Rico teams that will come and visit for this years regatta.
Both second places in CSA 1 were taken by FKG, helmed by Andrea Scarabelli who held off Team Island Water World 1 in the first race and Dauntless in the second.
For the series however Team Island Water World 1 was the clear and undisputable winner of the class with 12 points, compared to 17 points for Wanna Be in second place. Third place went to Caraibes Diesel who struggled with a light crew on the final day.
In CSA 2 all races were won by Miss Tyknight helmed by Robbie Ferron followed by Jordan Pieterse in Miss Tandfog.
