October 5, 2016: The St. Lucia Yacht Club in conjunction with the St. Lucia Sailing Association, on Tuesday September 27th, launched its hosting of the 5th Annual Mango Bowl Regatta scheduled for the weekend of November 25-27.

The Regatta Director, Lily Bergasse, proudly announced the renaming of the regatta: the 2016 DIGICEL Mango Bowl Regatta and thanked GOLD Sponsor DIGICEL. Digicel’s Marketing and Communications Executive, Louise Victor, who was present at the ceremony and cheque handover confirmed Digicel’s commitment to sponsor the event for the next three years. Digicel branding is seen at many sporting events island wide. Digicel has committed itself not only to sports events but the development of youth through sport.

It sees the value of sport in balancing the lives of St. Lucians who enjoy Digicel social media products and recognizes the need for public involvement to encourage a culture that celebrates healthy lifestyles and the values learned through sport. Mr. Reds Pereira, MC for the evening, also acknowledged SILVER sponsor, Dive Saint Lucia which has been on board for the past three years. This year as part of its sponsorship, Dive Saint Lucia, will provide a VIP boat for the weekend allowing on water spectating for its guests. IGY: Rodney Bay Marina a sponsor of the Mango Bowl since its inception has, once again, committed itself as a BRONZE sponsor of the regatta as has first time sponsor, St. Lucia Distillers.

The regatta committee is well underway with planning for a fantastic event which expects participation from 25-30 local and regional yachts in the different classes of race: Cruisers I & II, J24, Surprises and Melges. For the first time the regatta may also include an X-Treme 26 class of race, this to be confirmed by X-Treme yacht captains in Martinique and St. Lucia. Regatta Director thanked all of the sponsors of the 2016 Digicel Mango Bowl regatta and looks forward to an exciting regatta.

The regatta will take place on the weekend of November 25-27 with races in Rodney Bay. A spectator boat will be available for the public and as always, the St. Lucia Yacht Club will be open for landlubbers to cast an eye over the races from the beautiful deck of the club.
