Urgent Changes to Racing Rules of Sailing

WC-BG-Header-Lock-LogoAt the ISAF Conference this year, ISAF approved two urgent rule changes to the Racing Rules of Sailing.  These rule changes will come into force on 1 January 2015.

I attach details of the changes along with other corrections and changes that have been approved since 2013.  This document is available on the ISAF website at the following address:

http://www.sailing.org/documents/racingrules/index.php

The first change concerns the addition of a new rule 6 in connection with betting.  For the background on this area, you can read submissions 036-14 and 127-14 which are available on the ISAF website here: http://www.sailing.org/2014-conference.php.  The text of the new Betting and Anti-Corruption Code will be available shortly on the ISAF website once the new ISAF Regulations have been processed following the Conference.

The second change concerns match racing and the deletion of rule 22.3 concerning boats moving backwards.  The relevant submission is 172-14.

All ISAF Race Officials have been notified of these changes today, but your help in ensuring the changes are brought to the attention of your national race officials would be much appreciated.
